OReilly had 11 of her points in the first half as the Bearcats went up 26-33 at the break. In the second half, Rebane scored 12 of her points to give the Bearcats the eventual separation theyd need to preserve the win.

We are happy with the win tonight on our home court, head coach Nicole Scholl said. I thought we did a better job in the second half with our defense and rebounding.

Up 37-35 with 8:59 left in regulation, Binghamton went on a 13-5 run in a span of 5:25 to go up 50-40 with 3:34 left in regulation. Rebane had six of her points during that stretch. In the final 1:49 of regulation, the Bearcats locked up the win by going 5-for-6 from the free throw line.

Rebane also added a team-best nine rebounds and is averaging 10.0 rebounds in the past three games. OReilly, meanwhile, added three assists and three steals.

Sam Landers led Stony Brook with 13 points while Whitney Davis added 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Kellie Krueger also chipped in 10 points.

Binghamton hosts conference-leading Boston University Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

NOTES: Rebane and Davis were the America East Players of the Game.

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Stony Brook (14-7, 9-1 AE) exploded out of the gate to the tune of a 35-point halftime lead and defeated Binghamton (0-22, 0-10 AE) 82-48 Wednesday night from Pritchard Gym.

The Seawolves drilled a school-record 14 three-pointers (14-of-26) to remain unbeaten on their home floor (11-0).

We didnt come out with fire and they shot the ball very well, head coach Mark Macon said of the pivotal first half. We dug in and played much better in the second half but they hit all those threes in the first half and that was the game.

The Bearcats hit 3-of-6 to start the game and were tied 6-6 four minutes into the contest before the wheels came off. Stony Brook rattled off three-pointers on five straight possessions to begin an overwhelming 35-7 run that spanned 12:41. During the run, the Seawolves drilled 13-of-19 from the floor, including 8-of-11 accuracy from beyond the arc.

With the Bearcats struggling on the offensive end (3 FG in final 16 minutes), Stony Brook outscored BU 44-9 to end the half and when Anthony Jacksons three from the top of the key swished through with two seconds left, the hosts had built a 50-15 bulge.
The Seawolves drilled 9-of-12 from three-point range in the first half, including eight in a 10-minute span midway through the period. Stony Brook shot 61 percent and held the Bearcats to 6-of-21 shooting (29%).

Binghamton shot 44 percent in the second half and outscored the hosts 33-32 over the final 20 minutes but the damage was done.
For the game, sophomore guard Rob Mansell led the Bearcats with 10 points. Freshman forward Ben Dickinson added nine points and junior guard Jimmy Gray chipped in eight points, four steals and three assists.

Tonight on the Friday Night Focus we show you why the Sabers of Susquehanna Valley and its town do not lack character.

It's been a tough six months for the Stockton family.

In September, the flood ravished their town, put strain on their school, and strain on the leader of the household Dana Stockton, who's an Endicott firefighter. Four weeks ago, the Stocktons were hit with an even bigger blow.

"My dad had to get emergency surgery, says Tashianna Stockton, Danas oldest daughter. They found a growth on his back, and then they got the biopsy back a few days later, and they said it was a Granulocytic sarcoma - which is a rare form of cancer."

Initially Dana and his wife didn't want their three daughters to know, but eventually decided to break the news to the girls.

"The day it happened me and Catarina were downstairs hanging out, and my dad called us up, and he was like 'I have to go to the hospital right now, because there's a tumor in and outside of my spine, and I have to get emergency surgery tonight.' We freaked out - it just happened so quick," said Alexandra Stockton, Danas middle child.

As soon as news around town broke of Danas condition, the community immediately responded.

"Everybody has been so supportive. So many people have come up, and asked 'How's your dad? How are you guys doing?' We have a meal train. Everybody signs up to bring us a meal everyday until March," Tashianna said.

"Everyone's been buying t-shirts, and we have wristbands, and everyone has supportive of this," Alexandra said.

With all of the proceeds going towards the Stocktons medical bills, the shirt has become quite popular with the students of Susquehanna Valley High School even the basketball teams, who've adopted the orange shirt as their new warm up gear.

"It has been amazing. I almost shed a tear, because the varsity boys wore them, says Tashianna. It was really meaningful that they decided to wear that instead of their jerseys."

After all that this town has gone, all of the hardships the Stocktons have encountered, the saying on the back of the shirt No one fights alone. says it all.

"It's brought everybody closer. It's amazing; it's incredible how its worked out when something so horrible happens, says Tashianna. But everyone's here for us. We have so much support."

If you would like to help, there'll be a benefit in Danas honor at the Holiday Inn Arena February 26th, with all of the proceeds going to the Stockton family.

The loss snapped the Bearcats two-game winning streak.
Henry, who finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds and a pair of steals was fouled underneath the basket. After she converted both free throws, the Bearcats game-winning attempt at the buzzer was no good.

Its disappointing, head coach Nicole Scholl said. We didnt handle Albanys zone (defense) well until late in the game and didnt get the ball to the high post enough.

Binghamton was up 28-20 with 14:05 left in regulation but managed just one field goal the next 12 minutes against the Great Dane defense. By that time, the Great Danes were up 35-30 with 2:11 left to go. Senior forward, Viive Rebane, however, scored five straight points to tie the game at 35-35 with 49 seconds remaining. With 26 seconds left, she was fouled grabbing her 10th and final rebound of the game. Rebane sank 1-of-2 free throws and Albany called a time out with 18 seconds left. That set the stage for Henrys heroics from the free throw line.

Senior guard Orla OReilly poured in a game-high 16 points, 13 of which came in the first half. Rebane also finished with 10 points to notch her 18th career double double. Sophomore guard Jasbriell Swain added 10 rebounds as did Julie Forster of Albany.

Gerardo Suero scored a game-high 25 points and host Albany (13-9, 5-3 AE) hit six free throws in the final 1:01 to fend off pesky Binghamton (0-20, 0-8 AE) 74-66 Wednesday night from SEFCU Arena.

Suero, the nations fourth-leading scorer, scored 16 of his points in the second half to pace the Great Danes. Albany withstood a game effort by Binghamton, which led by two at the break and didnt surrender the lead until the games final eight minutes.

A 10-2 BU run gave the Bearcats a 52-47 lead with 8:50 remaining. Sophomore guard Robert Mansell scored six of his team-high 22 points during the run, which spanned 3:24. But Albany countered with a 14-2 run and held the Bearcats to just one field goal over an 8:23 span to take the lead for good. Down 66-58 with 3:51 remaining, BU scored four straight on a pair of free throws from freshman guard Chris Longoria and a putback from first-year forward Omar Richards to pull within four, 66-62, with 1:29 left. But Albany held steady from the free throw line to seal the win.

I am proud of the guys but we still have to right the mistakes, head coach Mark Macon said. We started out with a lot of energy, kept fighting and I think the guys learned something about themselves tonight. We did a good job on their bigs but couldnt stop their two mainstays (Suero and Black). Nobody is handing us anything. Eventually it will happen we have to keep on working. I have a team without any seniors and we have a bunch of inexperienced guys. Albany has veterans and a kid (Suero) who knows how to play. You just have to learn from these games.

Mansell hit 8-of-19 for his 22 points and added three assists in 39 hard minutes. Freshman forward Ben Dickinson, BUs America East Player of the Game, produced 21 points, eight rebounds and a team-high five assists in 38 minutes. Richards wound up with 10 points, six boards and three blocks in 34 minutes. Longoria chipped in nine points and junior guard Jimmy Gray offered five rebounds, five steals and four points in 38 minutes.

The Bearcats got off to a stellar start, hitting their first four shots and jumping out to an 8-2 lead less than three minutes into the contest. Albany meanwhile, missed 7-of-8 to start and after Longoria soared to grab an offensive rebound and jam it home with 13:33 remaining, all five starters had scored and BU had a 14-7 lead its largest lead of the season. Binghamton held a 19-14 lead before Albany heated up with a 12-4 run that pushed the hosts ahead by three, 26-23 with 5:18 left. But Dickinson scored five of his nine first-half points in the final 2:50 and the Bearcats forged ahead 33-31 at the half the teams third halftime lead of the season and its largest cushion.

Mansell scored 11 first-half points and BU held an 18-6 margin in the paint. Albany was aided by 5-of-11 three-point shooting.

In front of 3,691 fans, the Bearcats committed 17 turnovers and managed just seven second-half field goals.

New Hampshire closed out the first half with a 12-2 run to take a 33-23 cushion into intermission. Sophomore guard Robert Mansell, BUs top scorer with 19 points, scored six straight points to pull the Bearcats to within five, 45-40, with 10:09 left. But UNH guard Alvin Abreu answered with a three-pointer on the next possession to stem the tide. Mansell, who sank 10-of-10 free throws, hit another pair with 9:26 left to pull BU within six, 48-42. But Rhoads, UNHs America East Player of the Game, delivered the dagger with an ensuing four-point play. He drilled a three-pointer from the left wing, was fouled and sank the free throw to restore UNHs double-digit lead. The Wildcats kept the margin at double-figures the rest of the way.

It was a game of runs and possessions, head coach Mark Macon said. New Hampshire did two things to us ... they caused turnovers and they got offensive rebounds. Rhoads hurt us with big baskets, steals and the four-point play.

Mansell hit 4-of-8 from the floor and added a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman forward Omar Richards scored nine points and classmates Ben Dickinson and Chris Longoria chipped in eight points apiece. Dickinson netted all his points in the first half and added a team-high four assists. Junior guard Jimmy Gray produced five points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The Bearcats actually outshot their visitors (45% to 43%) but the turnovers and 11 UNH offensive rebounds resulted in 13 more shots for the Wildcats. New Hampshires bench outscored BUs bench 25-0 and the Bearcats were held to just three offensive rebounds.

Binghamton begins a stretch of four-of-five on the road with a trip across I-88 and a matchup with longtime SUNY rival Albany on Wednesday.
