Loss
Weight loss can be very intimidating with the words
“exercise” and “healthy food” discouraging many people. It’s not
about less food and more exercise as you are apt to hear. It’s
about a healthy lifestyle with eating nutritious foods and being
physically active. Easy changes to your life can get you kick
started to a healthier new you!
- Drink more water. Thirst can often be
confused with hunger which leads to consuming unnecessary
calories.
- Add to your diet. Eating more fruits
and veggies will add fiber and curb hunger. Eat them in
soups, salads, rice or pasta instead of eating them as a
side all the time.
- Eat only when you’re hungry. Many
times, the desire to eat is not due to real hunger, but
psychological factors such as having a bad day or feeling
sad.
- Avoid eating after-dinner snacks.
Snacking after meals is usually out of habit and not because
of hunger. If you cannot resist a sweet treat, choose
healthier options such as fat free ice cream or trail mix.
- Eat several smaller meals. Eating 4-5
smaller meals a day can help you curb hunger and make it
easier to control your appetite and weight.
- Exercise the way you want. You don’t
have to spend hours in the gym to call it exercise. Take the
stairs instead of an elevator, park further away at the
grocery store, take walks, join a dance class with your
friends. Have fun with it and focus on how great you feel.
- Eat breakfast. Eating early in the day
helps you feel fuller and avoid snacking which leads to
fewer calorie consumption.
