The Kilmer Mansion in Downtown Binghamton hosted a special Galentine’s Day event today from 1pm to 3pm, featuring snacks, drinks, and a floral board design class led by Michelle Ammerman, founder of Autumn Bloom's Forever Flowers.

Attendees were required to register in advance, with tickets priced at $60 per person.

"I think celebrating love and whatever form it may be, whether it's a significant other or just your best friends next to you is really important and [so is] celebrating each other," Ammerman said.

During the event, participants created heart-shaped floral boards using a mix of silk and wooden flowers in colors of their choice.

"Beyond flowers just being beautiful, there's a lot of sentiment behind them...preferences, colors, seasons, different meanings behind them and then with the wood flowers that we did here today, they never die. So you have a forever keepsake," said Ammerman.

When asked about her favorite part of the event, Ammerman said, "People finding out that [the flowers] are made out of wood and as well afterwards getting together for the group photo and just seeing everyone's smiling faces and how everyone's crafts came together."

Ammerman also noted that a portion of the proceeds would go toward supporting Kilmer Mansion.
