100 years ago today, the temperature at the weather bureau this morning was 22 degrees below zero, which put Binghamton on the official record as being the coldest spot in the United States today.

An eastbound Erie freight train engine, and four cars loaded with livestock derailed this morning just west of the state hospital. Cold weather was blamed for causing a railroad switch to break.

Construction at the new site on Vestal Avenue for the Park Avenue Baptist Church will begin later this year.

A Court Street woman was seriously injured yesterday when the toboggan she was riding on, collided with another toboggan on the brand new slide at Recreation Park.

Finally, plans are being discussed by the state to build a dam and reservoir near Deposit, to supply drinking water to New York City. The plan would eliminate the towns of Cannonsville, Granton, Rock Rift and Beerston.
