100 years ago today, it was announced today that 13,000 employees of the Endicott Johnson Corporation who were on the payroll throughout 1924, will each receive a bonus of about $97.

Binghamton’s Common Council last night accepted a gift of $25,000 from Mrs. Lloyd E. Sweet, daughter of George F. Johnson, for a merry-go-round to be installed at Recreation Park. She specified that the carousel is to be enclosed, lighted and heated so that it can be used year-round, and the only condition being that it always be maintained and operated free of charge.

The city has designated Bennett Avenue, Mygatt Street and Schubert Street for coasting and sledding purposes each day from 4 to 10 p.m.

Finally, following a lively chase late last night, police now believe they have caught the mysterious “Peeping Tom” that has been spotted throughout the city over recent weeks.

And that was the news, January 27, 1925.
