South New Berlin Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Charge After 2023 Traffic Stop
The Delaware County District Attorney says a South New Berlin man has pleaded guilty to a drug charge.
According to the D.A., in April 2023, Sidney Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle equipment violation. One of the people inside was Thomas Stanley. The vehicle was impounded after it was discovered the driver was the subject of an Order of Protection granted to a separate passenger in the vehicle.
Drugs, including heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine were all found in the vehicle. Stanley was charged with six counts of drug-related felonies. The D.A. says during the course of Stanley's case, numerous bench warrants were issued for his arrest due to his constant failure to appear in court. Stanley also failed to appear at two separate jury trial dates, causing them to be postponed.
Stanley was arrested on January 10th and remanded without bail. On Tuesday, Stanley pleaded guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree. It is expected that he will be sentenced to four years in prison and two years of post-release supervision.
