More details have been released regarding an investigation into an animal cruelty case earlier this week in Chenango County.

New York State Police say over 50 animals were removed from a property in Chenango County Wednesday evening. According to police, around 7 p.m., a search warrant was executed at a property on Mudge King Road in the town of North Norwich as part of an investigation into possible animal neglect.

In all, 56 animals were removed from the property. Below is a list of the animals removed:

  • 30 horses
  • 1 pig
  • 7 sheep
  • 4 goats
  • 4 chickens
  • 7 dogs
  • 3 cats

All were in need of immediate medical care and were transported to various animal rescue locations throughout the area. Police add that multiple deceased animals were located throughout the property.

Police say the landowners are cooperating with police at this time and the investigation is on-going.
