Binghamton Teen Pleads Guilty to Shooting Death of Binghamton Man in 2024
A Binghamton man has pleaded guilty in the shooting death of another Binghamton man that occurred last fall.
According to the City of Binghamton Police Department, just after 10:15 p.m. on the evening of September 30th, police responded to 100 Roberts Street, Building 2-8 for a report of a male victim with a gunshot to the head. Police found the 41-year-old victim and attempted life-saving measures before he was taken to an area hospital.
The victim was identified as Tyrell Norris. Norris was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
During the ensuing investigation, 19-year-old Darius Palmer of Binghamton was identified as a suspect in the shooting. Palmer was located in the Bronx in October and arrested by members of the United States Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force for an unrelated warrant issued by Johnson City Police.
Palmer pleaded guilty Wednesday and was sentenced to 20 years in prison on the charge of Manslaughter in the 1st degree and an unrelated assault.
