The City of Binghamton is one of 17 municipalities that has been awarded grants for the purchase or lease of zero-emission light- and medium-duty fleet vehicles.

According to a press release from the Department of Environmental Conservation, the City was awarded $15,000 for three battery electric vehicles. In all, a total of $342,500 was awarded to the 17 winners.

This is part of the DEC's Municipal Zero-Emission Vehicle Rebate Program. Since the program's inception in 2016, more than $1.8 million has been awarded to municipalities for electric vehicles.
