Walton Man Sentenced on Criminal Contempt and Assault Charges

A Walton man has been sentenced to prison on charges of Criminal Contempt and Assault.
According to the Delaware County District Attorney, in May 2024, county sheriff's deputies responded to a Walton residence for an ongoing domestic, which the caller claimed they and another person had been assaulted by a Dakota Mann. An investigation determined that an order of protection was in place for one of the assault victims.
The D.A. says Mann was arrested and charged with both Criminal Contempt and Assault following the domestic. He was then remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility, and in July, he assaulted a fellow inmate. Mann was charged with Assault in the 2nd degree.
In October, Mann pleaded guilty to Criminal Contempt in the 1st degree and Assault in the 3rd degree. He was alleged to have assaulted a corrections officer at the facility, causing his plea agreement for a lesser sentence to be vacated.
On Tuesday, Mann was sentenced to an indeterminate prison term of two to four years for the Criminal Contempt in the 1st degree charge and an additional year for the Assault in the 3rd degree charge.
