Broome County IDA Approves Legislation to Push Progress Towards Start of Property Project in Johnson City
The Broome County IDA came to an approval earlier today to facilitate the financing of the acquisition, renovations, and equipping of 214 Main Street in Johnson City.
Today's decision approves the property tax abatement to help stabilize taxes over about ten years. The project will also receive a New York Sales Tax Exemption benefit in an amount not to exceed $20,000 to help during the time of construction.
The plan for the project is to restore the Main Street building into six apartments and one to two commercial spaces on the first floor.
"When the idea gets involved, the end game is usually it's it's the but for I mean we are a critical piece in the financing puzzle for these projects to be able to provide assistance," CEO of the Leadership Alliance Stacey Duncan said. "But it provides stability and consistency over a period of time that they know what that tax liability will be is just so much it's just very helpful for them to ensure that they are operationally the project will well be strong."
