he Catholic Schools of Broome County recently announced a plan to realign school campuses effective at the end of the 2024-25 school year. 

Over in Endicott, All Saint's School will be closing at the end of this school year and all students will transition to St. James School in Johnson City. 

Starting at the beginning of the 2026-27 academic year, Seton Catholic Central in Binghamton will incorporate 6th grade, where students from St. John the Evangelist and St. James School will attend. 

The decision comes in response to declining enrollment rates within the region and hopes to ensure long-term sustainability for Catholic education in Broome County.

"From a family perspective, what this plan has done is they've really tried to the board has really tried to make decisions that will keep friends and families together in classrooms," Chancellor for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse Danielle Cummings said. "So transitioning those children first to Saint James and then the six grades for Saint John's and Saint James to go together to the middle school and to be that first class or a lot of not only the academic and operational consideration that were made, but also the social."
