Hamden Man Sentenced for Prior DWAI Conviction

The Delaware County District Attorney says a Hamden man has been given a probation sentence after he pleaded guilty to the charge of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs in November.
Keith Audette was sentenced to a five-year term of probation supervision last Tuesday. He was also fined a total of $1,570, had his license revoked, and had to provide a DNA sample for the state data base. If he violates any terms of the probation, he may be re-sentenced to 1.3 to 4 years in state prison.
In November, Audette admitted to the charge. Prior to his admission, he admitted he had been convicted of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated in Chenango County in October 2015 and then drove a motor vehicle under the influence of meth in Walton in April 2024.
Before he was sentenced, Audette was given the chance to offer a statement, and according to the D.A., Audette thanked the court for the opportunity to be supervised and stated he believed the plea was going to change his life.
