Norwich Man Charged With Rape, Among Others in Town of Norwich
A City of Norwich man is facing multiple charges, including rape after a trespass in progress complaint in the Town of Norwich last week.
According to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office, Brandon P. King was charged with Rape in the 1st degree, Burglary in the 1st degree, Menacing in the 2nd degree, and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing. These charges come after the office says King unlawfully entered a residence on January 17th and waited for the victim to come home.
When the victim arrived, the office says King pointed a gun at her and said they needed to talk. It is alleged that he then held a knife to the victim's throat before forcing the victim to engage in sexual intercourse. The office says the victim received phone calls from family members and she was able to alert them that someone was in the house.
Her family was able to call 911 and King fled the scene on foot. He was located in Utica and taken into custody there before being turned over to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office. King was arraigned and remanded without bail to the county correctional facility without bail.
