A celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was held Monday night in Binghamton.

Faith leaders and elected officials spoke to a gathered crowd at Salvation Temple Church on Main Street.

The event was led by Reverend Arthur Jones, Jr. who serves as the Chairman of the Broome County Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission.

"It's important that we not forget...that, you know, our past has brought us what we've come through," said Jones. "And what we have endured, we're so resilient. We are strong. People even have learned how to rise to the occasion no matter what we've gone through."

Monday night's event included singing, worship, and remarks from multiple speakers.
