The Binghamton Black Bears earned a hard-fought, 2-1 road victory at Watertown Friday night.

Austin Thompson's goal with under three minutes to play in the third period proved to be the game-winner for Binghamton while goaltender Connor McAnanama racked up 37 saves for the Black Bears in the win.

The Black Bears opened the scoring with a goal by Kyle Stephan in the first period. Watertown tied the game in the third period when Chiwetin Blacksmith found the back of the net.

With the win, Binghamton extends its first-place lead over Watertown in the Empire Division of the FPHL. The Black Bears and Wolves are scheduled to meet again Saturday at 7 p.m. in Binghamton.
