The 6th Annual Thanksgiving Food Challenge between CHOW and Local Officials Comes to an End
The 6th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive between CHOW and local officials has officially come to an end after collecting food all last week.
Over 21,000 meals were donated through non-perishable foods and cash donations to chow this year, surpassing last year's tally of almost 14,000 meals. For every dollar donated this year, CHOW will distribute 5 meals to families in need.
In Broome County, one in eight individuals and one in six children are food insecure.
"This event and others like it helped raise food and funds so a child can continue being a conduit of kindness to those who are food insecure," Director of CHOW Les Aylesworth said. "What I love about it is that it isn't just talking about an issue. It is taking actual, measurable action to address a very real need."
