On Monday, a current Johnson City girls lacrosse player signed her National Letter of Intent taking her talents to Mercyhurst University.

Senior midfielder Emma McCaffery signed her NLI to join the Lakers lacrosse program after graduating in 2025. Mercyhurst as of this season will be a division one lacrosse program joining the NEC in 2025 after being in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for the last sixteen seasons.

McCaffery heads into her senior season as the captain of the Wildcats squad while also leading with 84 goals and 16 assists, the future Laker spoke on the support she has had to reach this moment.

"I'm really grateful because as much as I put in, I've had a lot of people who have picked me up along the way," said McCaffery. "It's a hard process, so it's definitely really good to have people there supporting you"

The senior also added that she is looking forward to the challenge of playing at a high level.

"It's a big leap, so I'm excited for that," said McCaffery. "I'm excited for the challenge and excited to get better."
