The City of Binghamton will hold its annual downtown Christmas tree lighting this weekend, with a tree picked out from Sunny Hill Tree Farm in Endwell.

The 30-foot-tall tree is over 25 years old and will be the centerpiece for small business Saturday event this weekend.

The city will kick off the holiday season with the Christmas tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday November 30, followed by an evening of live music, hot chocolate, and other holiday activities.

Sunny Hill Tree Farm owner Mike Kodey says he's honored to be able to contribute to this year's celebration.

Kodey said, "It's very exciting because we planted that tree. I'm going to say at least 25, 26 years ago, and we decided to let a few of them go big because someday we were looking forward to having it put in the city, you know, some type of center of city and so it all worked out."
