A couple of local animal shelters are among the shelters participating in the upcoming BISSELL Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters - Holiday Hope event.

This event offers reduced adoption fees from December 1st to December 17th, where adoptive families pay no more than $50 for a fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered pet. Participation dates vary by shelter.

  • Broome County Humane Society
  • Humane Society of Schuyler County
  • Humane Society of Yates County
  • Ten Lives Club Cat Rescue and Adoption
  • SPCA of Tompkins County
  • Wanderers' Rest Humane Association

This event involves over 400 shelters in 45 states. The Empty the Shelters event is the nation's largest funded adoption event, with more than 300,000 pets finding homes across the country and in Canada since it began in 2016.
