UHS and Broome County Suicide Awareness for Everyone (BC SAFE), in collaboration with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), hosted the eighth annual Survivors of Suicide Loss Day today.

The event, which took place at UHS Binghamton General Hospital, offered those who have lost loved ones to suicide the chance to watch a film from AFSP, share their thoughts and feelings, and engage in in art therapy activities.

Survivor Day, established by Congress in 1999, is observed annually as a day for those impacted by suicide loss to come together in local communities to connect and heal. Hundreds of events are held across the U.S. and worldwide each year.

In addition to the in-person Survivor Day event, AFSP also offers an online Survivor Day program at afsp.org/SurvivorDay.
