Family and Children's Counseling Services added a new building to its Main Street location today, with local officials including New York State Assembly member Donna Lupardo, Binghamton Mayor Jared M. Kraham, and Broome County Executive Jason Garnar, coming out to support the addition.

"There is such a need for us to cultivate resilience at every step of the way through our communities, through our interest in counseling and addiction services, through the work that I do in the state Assembly on our food supply chain, through all of the things that collectively we need to do," Lupardo said.

The 9,000 square foot and two story building adds more space for counseling services, and connects to the pre-existing building, doubling the size of their offices.

The project cost 5 million dollars, with support coming from the State of New York, Broome County, and the City of Binghamton, who paid $200 thousand dollars each.

Lisa Hoeschele, the CEO and Executive Director of Family and Children's, thanked each member of the government attending and all the parties involved in the renovation of the new facilities.

"So I want to thank them, and they're going to speak today, and I'm just really grateful to them.  This allows us to really create more opportunity for services to children who are, you know, the victims of trauma, mental illness, to have families that are engaged in treatment more effectively. And we have more room for that," Hoeschele said.
