100 years ago today, there was a light snowfall in Binghamton last night and the temperature dropped to 10 degrees above zero.

It was reported today that an old-fashioned Thanksgiving dinner with turkey and all the trimmings, for a family of five, will cost between 5 and 6 dollars this year.

There was some excitement on Susquehanna Street this afternoon when a team of horses pulling a coal wagon, collided with a parked truck. The horses became frightened and ran wild down the street as people ran to get out of the way. The driver of the wagon was later arrested and charged with public intoxication.

Finally, Broome County officers used tear gas for the first time, during a raid on a Water Street establishment this afternoon. Two men were arrested as the gas drove them out of hiding in a secret vault in the basement.

And that was the news 100 years ago.
