Coming in at number six is Dave Hogan!

When you think of Section IV football, Dave Hogan is probably the face you imagine. Coach Hogan came up as a quarterback at Windsor while also wrestling and playing baseball for the Black Knights.

After his high school days, Hogan took his talents to SUNY Cortland.

In 1996, Dave took a job as an assistant for Kelsey Green. The Blue Devils then went from an alright program to arguably, the premier high school football team in New York.

In 2001 and 2002, The Devs lost in the State Title before getting over the hump in '03 and '04, shutting out Rye in both games for a combined score of 64-0 and giving Forks their first two Class B Titles in the current tournament format.

In 2005 and '07, Forks would fall to Rye in the state championship before coach Green handed off the baton to Hogan.

Dave would win Section IV Titles in 2009, 2010 and 2012, but was thwarted each year with nail-biting losses.

In 2013, the standard was re-set. Forks took home their first of three straight state class c titles and in 2016 jumped up to "B" where they finished as state runner-ups in back-to-back years. 2018 was a rare year where Forks didn't make the final four, but Coach Hogan made up for it one year later, once again, winning it all in Class B and outscoring their three postseason opponents by 78 points.

If it weren't for the COVID pandemic, Hogan's crew would have likely won another state title in 2020 as the Blue Devils went a perfect 6-0 in the abbreviated season, handling Maine-Endwell in the season finale.

Either way, Forks added a seventh state title to the trophy case in 2021.

In his 16 years as Forks' head coach, Dave Hogan has gone 161-21, won 11 Section IV titles and made nine final four appearances.

Hogan also serves as the school's Athletic Director.

For his Southern Tier roots, excellence on the sideline, coaching the red helmets and turning a great program into what could be considered the best in the state with the second-most state titles and the most finalist finishes, Coach Dave Hogan comes in at number six on Fox 40's Top 40.
