The Boys & Girls Club of Binghamton is getting ready to host it's 40th annual Golf tournament later next week.

Golfers will tee off at the links at Hiawatha landing at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 20th for the Captain & Crew Golf Tournament.

For four decades now the tournament has served as a major fundraiser for the club, making it possible to maintain its facilities and run programming, averaging a take of well over 30 thousand dollars annually.

And it all wouldn't be possible without the community's desire to help the children, according to Executive Director Marybeth Smith.

"We have golfers who have golfed with us every single year for 40 years, and that says a lot," Smith said. "And that means a lot to us because we know we're doing something good. We know that when we can show 100 wonderful, smiling, happy kids, we know we're doing a good job and so do all the people who come to support the tournament."
