Vestal celebrated four student-athletes today from their illustrious field hockey team who'll be competing at the collegiate level this fall.

Friends and family got together at Vestal High School to celebrate the two-time defending New York State Champs. Four athletes announced their commitment during a signing ceremony on Tuesday starting with Aubree Wenner, who will be competing for Geneseo next year, Adrienne Mayes who will be a SUNY Cortland Red Dragon next fall, Molly Schoenfeldt, who will be attending and competing for Hartwick College, and last, but not least, Madison Lilley who will travel to Susquehanna University and compete as a River Hawk.

Mayes says it was an honor to sign the dotted line next to three of her teammates.

"It was really amazing because those people are like my day ones," Mayes said. "I've been playing hockey since seventh grade and I started out with them and it's great to end with them."

The Golden Bears won the Class B New York State Championship in both 2022 and 2023, beating Garden City, 2-1 first and then Iroquois 4-1 this academic year.

"It was amazing," Lilley said. "Definitely winning the first year set the idea in our mind that we wanted to do it again. And it was just amazing that we won both years."

The four were surrounded by their families as the rest of the Vestal community watched the signing.

"I love the support that I get from everybody," Mayes said. "They really push me to be my best. And I'm really excited for them to watch me with this success in this milestone."

With Tuesday's signing, six seniors from this Vestal class will be competing in field hockey at the collegiate level as Kendall Brady will play at Holy Cross and Chloe Burkhard is committed to compete at D'Youville.
