The Broome County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a multi-vehicle crash that included a stolen vehicle in the Town of Chenango Friday morning.

The office says deputies were alerted to a stolen Kia SUV in Chenango around 8:10 this morning and not long after, the stolen vehicle was spotted at a stop light at the intersection of W. Service Road and State Route 12A. A traffic stop was initiated and as the deputy was approaching the vehicle, it fled.

It ran through the intersection and continued west on Route 12A/ Chenango Bridge Road and ran a red light at the intersection of Chenango Bridge Road and Kattelville Road. The ensuing police chase didn't last long as the Kia hit two other vehicles at the intersection of Chenango Bridge Road and Matthews Road less than a mile from the initial traffic stop location.

Two people, including the driver of the Kia, were taken to UHS Wilson Medical Center. The minor driver of the Kia sustained minor injuries, and the other driver sustained serious injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

The investigation is on-going.
