A traffic stop on Court Street Saturday morning leads to charges being filed against a Johnson City man.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Matin Avdel had a clear plastic bag filled with pills and powder in a fanny pack and in the vehicle along with a weapon hidden in the pocket of his sweatshirt.

All together, police confiscated 12 Oxycodone Hydrochoride pills, 7 pills that tested for MDMA, a single pill identified as Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine, and .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol and two rounds of ammo in the magazine.

Avdel was charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of a Loaded Weapon in the 2nd degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree
  • 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree
