Binghamton Prepares For First Playoff Run Since 2017
For the first time since 2017, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies will be playing playoff baseball.
Binghamton is preparing for their division series matchup against Somerset which will begin on Tuesday, the Patriots would punch their ticket to the playoffs by winning the first half of the season.
Rumble Ponies first baseman JT Schwartz says how they just have to build off of the momentum made by the team in the second half of the season, Binghamton went 42-27 in the second half of the year.
"Trust our pitching, our defense, our bats, our runners in scoring position," said Schwartz. "You know what we have done in the second half that has gotten us here, if we trust that we will be fine".
One thing that Rumble Ponies Manager Reid Brignac will be keeping close attention on is the offensive side of the Patriots as they led the entire Eastern League in runs, RBI's, On-base percentage, and slugging percentage.
"We are going to have to compete, attack their hitters and put them in defensive counts," said Brignac. "If we can work ahead and throw in the zone early and force them to swing the bat we should be in a good spot".
