Healthy Kids Running Series Holds First of Five Fall Races
Healthy Kids Running Series hosted its first of five fall races at Otsiningo Park-North on Sunday, September 17th.
The race series provides local kids with an opportunity to learn the benefits of staying active while also building on their love for running.
The organization partners with the Noah Farrelly Fund, allowing students at Binghamton City schools to participate in these races for free. Sunday's race saw around 93 runners participate.
Community Coordinator for Healthy Kids Running Series Laura Biasillo says that these races are a great way to support the running programs in the community.
"There's a lot of families that have young children or multiple children that are just looking for a place where they can bring all of their kids together, have an activity and, you know, really just be able to support them all," Biasillo said. "It's also really important for us that we're continuing to support cross-country programs and running programs for local high schools. So we know of many of our runners that are in, say, sixth grade that have run the series and have gone on to run cross-country. That wouldn't have done that in the past."
The series' next race will be next Sunday, September 24th.
