SEVERAL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY SPOKE OUT AGAINST HAVING SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERs in City of BINGHAMTON SCHOOLS.

"YOU CAN ASK THE MAJORITY OF BROWN AND BLACK STUDENTS AND THOSE WITH DISABILITIES IF HAVING AN OFFICER IN SCHOOL TERRIFIES THEM, AND THE ANSWER WILL BE YES", said community advocate, shanelle boyce.

SCHOOLS OFTEN ENLIST RESOURCE OFFICERS TO CREATE A SAFE AND ORDERLY ENVIRONMENT IN SCHOOLS.

While mANY CLAIM THE OFFICERS MAKE STUDENTS FEEL MORE AFRAID THAN SAFE WHILE IN SCHOOL, THEY CALLED ON THE SCHOOL BOARD TONIGHT TO DO THEIR PART TO IMPROVE THE SCHOOLING EXPERIENCE OF STUDENTS.
