Athlete of the Week: Maine-Endwell's Kaety L'Amoreaux

Kaety L'amoreaux has played Varsity basketball at Maine-Endwell since 8th grade, collecting just about every scoring and shooting record in the book along the way.
"I just really love the competitiveness, and its just I've always fell in love with it since a young age, and it was always just different to me." said the Senior Guard.
Watching the Senior blossom into the player she is today, is Brianna Thompson, who's coached L'amoreaux from team to team since 5th grade, and noticed her talent from the very get-go.
"There's always been something special about Kaety, she's always lived on a field, a court, she's always had some sort of ball in her hands, she plays all three sports, she's always been a stellar athlete, and she's one of the hardest working athletes I've come across." explains Thompson, Head Coach of M-E's Girls Varsity team. "Its the perseverance to win no matter what, no matter what the score is, she is playing at a level you can never bring her down from."
The two have formed a special relationship, one fostered by Thompson's kindness and openness towards her players.
"Going to her house before games, watching film at her house, she really showed how good of a coach she was, just reaching out to others, her house was always open to us." stated L'Amoreaux.
A bond that's also built on trust -- as Thompson says she can count on the Senior as a second coach on the court.
"We always have her on the bottom of our zone, because she's a great talker-communicator, and she's able to direct the team where to go."
Her talents enabled her to sign with Fairfield University to play Division I basketball, but before she laces up for the Stags, she says that there's still business to finish at Maine-Endwell:
"I want to go for Sectionals again, and make it farther than we did last time."
But ultimately the Spartan community as a whole, is what's made her career most meaningful.
"The people here have definitely influenced my time, and truly expanded my growth as a person both on and off the court, but its been my teammates my coaches, even just everyone at Maine-Endwell just truly gave me everything I have."
