100 years ago today, department stores in downtown Binghamton report that Christmas shopping has already started. Some of the most popular children’s toys this year are mechanical trains, erector sets, dolls and baby carriages.
The old Weed Tannery on Susquehanna Street in Binghamton has been sold to the Endicott Johnson Corporation. The building will now be used for a shoe factory.
Larrabee-deyo trucks, manufactured right here in Binghamton, are said to be the best trucks on the market for commercial use. The company announced today that it is expecting a big increase in sales next year.
Plans are being made to build a new school at West Endicott. The site for the school was donated by the Endicott Johnson Corporation.
Finally, someone broke into the Johnson Field Clubhouse late last night and stole football equipment and uniforms belonging to the Endicott-Johnson football team.
