Whitney Point Field Hockey Wins Second Straight State Title, 8th in Program History
The Whitney Point Eagles dominated the State Final Four over the weekend, outscoring their opponents 14-0 in the State Semifinals and Finals, winning their second straight State Championship.
First the Eagles blew past Port Byron from Section III with a commanding 8-0 win in the semifinals, and in the state final, they notched another shutout with a 6-0 win over the Hoosick Falls Panthers of Section II, to claim back-to-back State Titles in Class C -- and their 8th in program history.
Superstar Senior Brenna Bough tallied three goals and one assist, while Genevieve Huston added two goals and an assist. Victoria Peterson buried one goal of her own, while Magdelana Jordan and Delana James notched two assists each.
Bough finishes the season with 88 points, good for third in the country, and 37 goals -- the second most in the nation.
The Point finishes the season with a 21-0 record, and have now won 39 straight games since the start of the 2021 season.
To say the Eagles dominated the competition this season may be an understatement, they allowed just seven goals in their 21 games, while scoring 147 times, and shutout every team in the state tournament.
**A correction to the information provided in the video above, Whitney Point has scored 147 goals this season, not 141.**
