On Wednesday, BU Freshman catcher Evin Sullivan earned regional recognition as he was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year.

Sullivan hit .365 over 49 games started. Over that span, the freshman managed to rip seven home runs and work 15 walks. Sullivan's batting average ranked him third in the America East and his seven homers tied for 17th. The freshman also ranked eighth in slugging percentage (.566), twelfth in on-base percentage (.429), and sixth in OPS (.995).

Along with dominating the conference, Sullivan led his team in extra-base hits. This is Sullivan's second time being recognized as Rookie of the Year as he also earned the award in the AE. After the regular season, Sullivan continued to rake as he batted .600 with eight ribbies in five playoff games. Sullivan was also named to the Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American team.

This is the fourth time BU has received major award recognition from ECAC and the first time since 2017.

Other recipients in major ECAC categories included players from Rutgers, who won 44 games this season, and UCONN, who made it to the NCAA Super Regional.
