The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is celebrated nationally as Giving Tuesday. Every year, SUNY Broome celebrates Giving Tuesday with the annual 24 Hours of Giving.

SUNY Broome and the Broome Community College Association engage its alumni and community by encouraging them to give back to others on this day. The college is also encouraging the community to raise awareness about the needs of their students, in which this year's campaign is centered around giving back to the student of the past, present, and future of SUNY Broome.

Today, the SUNY Broome Student Giving Campaign took donations to support the college's Peer to Peer Scholarship. This scholarship is given to any student who committed a considerable amount of time to volunteer work in the community. In addition, the scholarship can cover book expenses and other needs while in school.

"The money that we raise is going to go into a fund for a peer-to-peer scholarship," said SUNY Broome Freshman Jacob Baker. This scholarship is which SUNY Broome offers to its students for 500 dollars to any student who applies."

Students and staff bought 50/50 raffle tickets for the chance to win a gift basket and other prizes provided by SUNY Broome. All proceeds raised from the 50/50 raffle will go towards the Peer to Peer scholarship.
