Devils Look to Continue Win Streak on the Road

The Binghamton Devils came out of their second straight weekend of 3 games in 3 days on a 6 game win streak. After practice today the team boarded their bus and headed to Rochester as they look to bring that streak on the road with them.
The Devils begin a 3 game road trip tomorrow night against the Americans followed by games in Laval on Friday and Saturday. Binghamton currently holds the 4th and final playoff spot in the North Division with 15 games to play. Rochester is 5 points ahead of them in second while Laval is 4 points behind them in 6th, so needless to say this is a huge trip.
While the BDevs are in the midst of a battle for playoff positioning, their parent club is not. New Jersey is in last place in the Metropolitan Division. Putting that into consideration it'd be logical to think New Jersey will be bringing up more prospects from Binghamton to get a look at their future. Which we have seen some call-ups the last week with Janne Kuokkanen and Matt Tennyson heading to Jersey. But BDevs Head Coach Mark Dennehy says discussions with the front office leaves him encouraged about Binghamton's roster core remaining solid through the end of the season.
"They know that we're in a playoff push and they see the value of it with some of the younger guys," says Dennehy. "Which is why you see a guy like Jesper Boqvist here. But again at the end of the day the NHL team is trying to put the best product on the ice as well. Guys are moving up and down but I think you're going to see more stability out of this lineup than last year."
AHL Player of the Week, forward Ryan Schmelzer is one of the guys that has been in Binghamton for the whole season. He says they got a good group and this recent surge has made the locker room an even better place to be around.
"It's awesome, everyone in the locker room is in a good mood," says Schmelzer. "It makes coming to the rink everyday that much better. We know where we are in the standings, we know what's left ahead of us and we're looking to take care of that."
Puck drop tomorrow night in Rochester is set for 7:05pm.
