Endwell, N.Y. - The 10U Maine-Endwell Little League softball team will represent their local community in the Girl's 10U New York State Tournament on Wednesday. The tournament begins Wednesday July 17 at the Ed Wisniewski Little League Complex in Dunkirk, New York and will end on Tuesday July 23.

"I'm very excited for states. I'm very excited to spend more time with my team and play teams that we've never experienced before" said Maine-Endwell catcher Natalie Chesna. "I'm very excited to see how other teams from other places play. I'm excited to represent Maine-Endwell."

Maine-Endwell will be the first 10U Little League team to appear in the New York State tournament and could potentially be the very first Maine-Endwell little league softball team to win the New York State championship.

"It would mean a lot" said Maine-Endwell pitcher Isabel Hunter. "We've worked really hard and we know we can do it."

This season's hardworking, positive and fun group of girls have been playing together for nearly three years. Their work ethic allowed them three district victories and three sectional victories, crowning them Section I East Champions.

"They back each other up. They cheer each other on" said Maine-Endwell Little League President, Joe Chesna. "They don't let the losses get between them. They have great coaches. They have fun and they celebrate their wins and they grind to not have losses. We're excited for them and we hope they do well."

"We work very well together. We all support each other with whatever we do" said Natalie. We're good hitters. We focus on every play we make and even if we do mess up we always think, get the next one, get the next one."

The New York State Tournament is a double elimination format. Maine-Endwell 's first game is tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
