Another Drug Related Arrest In The Southern Tier Further Highlights Heroin Epidemic

More news to highlight the growing epidemic of drugs in the Southern Tier. Of course, we hear regular reports of arrests and overdoses. Perhaps the most notorious of the drugs that are prevalent in our region is heroin. We have another drug related arrest to report.
34-year-old Zenaida Montanez was apprehended yesterday and charged with Driving While Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and a weapons charge. New York State Police say Montanez was driving on State Route 17 in Vestal while impaired by drugs. She was pulled over in Town of Dickinson and was said to be found with a small amount of heroin as well as cocaine.
Her passenger, 60-year-old Gulberto Montanez was reportedly seen holding a handgun during this ride, the gun was unregistered but police say it was Zenaida's.
