New York reached its highest employment level ever of more than 9 million jobs in 2014, after adding 538,000 jobs since 2009 - this according to a report released today by Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.

However, the Southern Tier did not share in this growth. from 2009-2014 the New York City area led the state in growth at 11.3%. However, over that time the Southern Tier suffered a 2.2% loss of jobs. That was the second-worst mark in the state, ahead of the 2.9% loss in the Mohawk Valley region.
