Fire Evacuates Business in Vestal

A fire caused the evacuation of a Vestal business Thursday morning, and part of Old Vestal Road was shut down.
Crews responded to reports of a porch fire at White Rose Spa.
The call came in at 11:30. No one was injured and the fire was quickly knocked down. Vestal firefighters said there was smoke damage inside a part of the spa.
"When we got here it was just a little bit of smoke. The first-arriving engine when it got here there was a lot of smoke in the building and coming from the back side around the porch area. It's mainly contained to the wall area around the porch," said Captain David Bowen of the Vestal Fire Department.
Employees and clients were allowed back into the building Thursday afternoon. According to the spa, it remains open and is conducting business as usual after the fire.
