B-Sens are going through rough first period starts the last few games
The B-sens have gone from winning three games in a row to losing two straight to start the new year.
Last night, Binghamton went down 3-1 heading into the third period. But in that period, The Sens scored 3 goals to take a 4-3 lead with a few minutes remaining.
But the Syracuse Crunch came back to tie it at 4 with a minute left in regulation so the game went into overtime.
In the extra session it went to 3-on-3 and Jonathan Marchessault sealed the deal with 11 seconds left in overtime to win 5-4.
They key for this week's road schedule is to start off on the right foot.
"We can't start games like this and we are not going to get lucky like we did tonight to just scramble a point out of a start like that. We have to get back work in the defensive zone. I think we just haven't had a lot of practice time lately and we have gotten a little of track in that area," said B-Sens coach Luke Richardson.
"Once you start off slow a couple of times, maybe you over think it when you are starting the game and it makes you grip the stick too tight. I don't think it is anything specific and I know we can play the game and play it hard. We just have to start with the first period and play a full 60 minutes which means not giving up during the last 20 minutes if we are ahead," said Left Wing Matt Puempel.
This is the B-Sens road schedule this week. They take on the Portland Pirates on Wednesday, Worcester Sharks on Friday, and wrap up on Saturday against the Manchester Monarchs.
