Building a Stronger Community
United Way of Broome County raises funds from the community each year to fund
specific programs that help thousands of people right here in Broome County.
Your donation to United Way goes directly to what matters in our
community--producing positive results and that improve the lives of so many
people.
Working through 30 local member agencies, United Way supports about 100 programs
in six areas of service. United Way also sponsors five direct service programs.
In Broome County, United Way can trace its history back to at least 1918, the
earliest known date for the Binghamton United Relief Organization, which was
formed to coordinate fund-raising activities among several health and human
service organizations.
United Way of Broome County is part of a national network of about 1,350 United
Ways. Each one is independent and local in both operation and control. Most
operate within only one county. Originally organized to coordinate activities
among local charities, United Way's role has expanded over the years. It is now
a leader in helping to create partnerships among organizations and seeking ways
to improve the lives of the people living in Broome County.

IBM
Corporate citizenship - giving back to the community where our employees and clients live. This has been a part of IBM since we were founded here in Endicott nearly 100 years ago. Through our employee charitable contribution campaign, employees have donated nearly 745 million dollars and countless hours to great organizations like the united way. With events such as day of caring and the annual children’s picnic, our partnership puts smiles on faces, and sets the tone for another year of generous giving. LOURDES
Lourdes Hospital has been serving the Southern Tier of New York and Northern
Tier of Pennsylvania with the highest quality health care since 1925.
Lourdes consists of a main campus, which includes the Lourdes Regional Cancer
Center and Breast Care Center. Lourdes at Home, Hospice and 15 Primary Care
practices with 3 walk-in locations are just a few of the vast array of
healthcare services Lourdes provides our community. We also bring primary care
and women’s health out into the community through our Mission In Motion mobile
health care van.
The quality of care provided by Lourdes has been recognized locally and
nationally. Lourdes has received Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence, The
Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the Commission on Cancer’s
Outstanding Achievement Award.
Today, LOURDES serves our community as a member of Ascension Health, the largest
Catholic and not-for-profit health system in the country.
