Scott's Oquaga Lake House Won't Open For 2020 Season

Posted: Updated:

After six generations in the same family and over one hundred years of operating as a resort, Scott's Oquaga Lake House will not be opening for the 2020 season. In a Facebook post on the resort's page on Wednesday, owners cite "circumstances beyond [their] control" as the reason.

A real estate listing with Woodland Creek Real Estate shows the multiple buildings and extensive lakefront property for sale for $6 million.

Just two years ago, Scott's was the filming location for the popular Amazon show Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.  It appeared in three episodes as the Steiner Mountain Resort.

The operations at Scott's have scaled back quite a bit in recent years leading up to this news. By 2018, when Amazon studios was looking to film at the resort, owners Patty and Gary Holdrege had limited the number of guest rooms open for the season to a "more manageable" amount, but Patty told Fox 40 she was hoping the attention from the filming would kick things up a notch for the family business in the coming years.

The Facebook post and the resort's website don't indicate whether the location will be closed to events as well. The links to book the venue on the website still work.

Fox 40 has reached out to the owners for more information, but were unable to get through.
