Jahelka to Golf for ChargersPosted: Updated:
Johnson City High School Senior Darren Jahelka signed his National Letter of Intent today to golf for Division II Dominican College. Jahelka has been on the Wildcats golf team for 6 years and has been golfing for the last 13. Off the course Jahelka is a member of the school's student run Athletes 2 Athletes, a charity that organizes a yearly staff basketball game to raise funds for students facing medical hardship. He says he chose to golf for the Chargers because of the opportunity they provide to play on high quality courses and the coach treating him like he's wanted there. Jahelka says he's excited to have finally made his decision and to get ready for the next step.
"It's a big relief now that everything is finally complete," says Jahelka. "Getting to this point was pretty stressful over the last 6 years. Preparing everyday and practicing day in and day out. Now it's to the point where it's kind of slowing down and I can kind of relax and enjoy the rest of my senior year. Once spring comes just get ready to get back on the course, start playing again and get ready for college."
Jahelka will be majoring in Finance and hopes to become a stockbroker.
