Golden Bears senior Sam Schaffer has committed to playing field hockey for Division 2 Bloomsburg University. Schaffer has been apart of the varsity field hockey team for 4 years, winning 3 Section 4 Class B Titles which led to 3 state tournament appearances. She has been a first-team All-Star every season since sophomore year and totaled 34 points in her career with 11 goals and 12 assists. Outside of Vestal she has been training with the USA National Futures Field Hockey Program for the past 3 years and earned a roster spot on the U16 Championship team. Schaffer says it's bittersweet knowing her time in high school is coming to a close, but she's excited for the next chapter.

"It's really nerve racking finally just getting to the point where I'm ready to go to college," says Schaffer. "It's a turning point for me and I'm ready for the next step in my career."

Off the field Schaffer is a scholar athlete and member of the National Honor Society. She will be majoring in Early Childhood Education and hopes to become a teacher.
