Binghamton High School Senior Shannon Perna signed her letter of intent today to play volleyball for Division II's Colorado School of Mines. Perna has been playing volleyball since the age of 10. Along with school volleyball she has played on a travel team and has also competed in track and basketball. Perna helped lead the Patriots to 2 sectionals titles during her time on the varsity team. Not only is she a standout athlete, but she excels in the classroom as well with a 4.0 GPA.

"It feels amazing it's such a big relief to have this part of the journey done and be able to go onto the next step in my life and create a new person," says Perna. "I get to do all these amazing things that i never thought I'd be able to do. I remember when I was little I never thought I was going to get to this point. I'm really excited about where I've gotten in my volleyball and academic career and everything else I've done. It's really a milestone for what I've done throughout my life and I'm excited to do even more than this."

Perna will be majoring in Engineering and hopes to pursue a MBA after her undergrad is completed.
