Saint Anthony's Fundraiser Sells Gift Baskets at Annual Holiday Marketplace

Posted: Updated:

Getting an early start to the holiday season, Saint Anthony's Church in Endicott held its 10th annual marketplace and shopping extravaganza this morning for the community.

The marketplace had approximately 275 pre-made gift baskets ready for purchase to help customers with their holiday shopping.

The baskets were funded by donations, and were sold for anywhere from $3 to $65. The basket sales will act as a fundraiser, with proceeds going to supporting the church. The extravaganza also featured food for purchase and a garage sale.

Father Ken Kirkman, a pastor at Saint Anthony's, said the basket making process began months ago in preparation of today's marketplace.

"The ladies start assembling the baskets during the summer, and the last couple weeks have been getting everything ready to go," Kirkman said. "When we opened at 8:30 [a.m.], we had cars packing the parking lots. We've had all kinds of people coming through. It's been wonderful."
