JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. -

A teenager is behind bars after he allegedly lead Johnson City police on a chase with a stolen vehicle before.

On Saturday, police arrested and charged Derick G. Clark, 19. He's facing a list of charges including criminal possession of stolen property in the 4th degree, a class E Felony for allegedly stealing a vehicle from the town of Triangle on Oct. 31.

The arrest came after police were notified Saturday night around 9:23 p.m. that the stolen vehicle was possibly in the area of Main Street.

Police say a patrol officer saw the vehicle around 12:05 a.m. traveling south on Willow St. When the officer turned around, the stolen truck sped away as it turned onto Endicott Ave with headlights off.

According to police, Clark couldn't negotiate the turn at the end of Endicott Ave and slammed into a fence before coming to a stop in an empty lot.

That's when Clark took off on foot and ran down an embankment into a wooded area near the railroad tracks.

Officers found the 19-year-old laying on the ground trying to hide and took him into custody.

Clark also had a warrant for his arrest out of JC Village court for Criminal Contempt in the second degree.

Clark was taken to central arraignment and was remanded to the Broome County Jail.
