UPDATE: Teen charged with attempted murder in South Side shooting

BINGHAMTON, NY -

UPDATE - 6:30 P.M.

Binghamton Police say they've arrested a 17-year old suspect in connection to the shooting that happened on the city's south side Wednesday afternoon. 

Around 2:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a man who had been shot in the area of Livingston St.

When officers arrived, they found the 19-year old victim near the corner of Conklin and Livingston with a gun shot wound to his arm. He was transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

During the continuing investigation, a search warrant was executed at an apartment at 80 Conklin Avenue and a .45 Caliber handgun was recovered.

The suspect is being charged with Attempted Murder and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

Police say the incident is not a random act.

Heavy police presence on the block of Conklin Ave and Livingston Street this afternoon.

A call of shots fired happened just before 2:30 with someone being hit in the shoulder.

Livingston Street was blocked by Binghamton Police.

Around 3:00 down Conklin Avenue, one person was taken into custody.

A second person was in cuffs but was not taken away by Binghamton Police.

Binghamton Police were not willing to comment at this time but we will keep you updated as more info becomes available.
